Telangana State Handicrafts Development Corporation (TSHDC) was set up in the year 2014 under the Companies Act, 2013.
EVENTS
Telangana State Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd organizes Exhibitions/Craft Bazaars in the State of Telangana. The TSHDC also hosts major events like ‘Gandhi Shilp Bazaars’ organized by the Development Commissioner for Handicrafts, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India in Hyderabad and other potential cities of Telangana State.
BRAND “GOLKONDA”
To promote new trade mark/brand “Golkonda” and to popularize Telangana State Handicrafts, the Corporation had launched its products through e-commerce platform by tying up with the well known multinational company Amazon as well as Go Coop market Place. The Corporation modernized all its showrooms with a view to provide good ambience for the customers. The Corporation is proposed to open one new showroom at Karimnagar to expand its business.
SKILL DEVELOPMENT
TSHDC organizes every year training programmes for skill up-gradation, Design Development, Workshops etc., to artisans by inviting the designers from reputed institutions to develop the skills of artisans as well as the products, to meet the changing market demand and trends. About 500 craft persons are benefited every year from these programmes.
CRAFT CLUSTERS
The Corporation has established a Common Facility Centre at Hasthakala Bhavan, Musheerabad, Hyderabad for Multicrafts. It is also planning to set up more CFSC’s at need based craft clusters. TSHDC provides improved tool kits to the artisans to improve their efficiency. TSHDC organizes Study Tours, Seminars from time to time in different crafts for up-gradation of skills and knowledge in the improved process techniques.
OUTREACH ACTIVITIES
Telangana State Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd offers Ten State Awards every year to Master Craftpersons, distinguished in their respective fields, contributed to the development. TSHDC is granting old age pensions to the artisans who are poor and aged above 60 years, unable to perform their duties. The corporation has sanctioned old-age pension to about 92 artisans @ Rs.500 per month.
PROMINENT CRAFTS/ART WORK
Telangana State Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd has obtained registration for Ten prominent and traditional crafts of Telangana State i.e., Nirmal Paintings/ Nirmal Furniture; Pembarthy Brass Sheet Metal; Cheriyal Paintings; Pochampally Ikkat; Silver Filigree; Nirmal Toys and Craft; Gadwal Sarees; Siddipeta Gollabama and Narayanpet Sarees. These are registered under Geographical Indication Registration Act, to protect the crafts from being copied or exploited and for improved market linkage, brand identity and for sustained market opportunities. Registration of another two more crafts i.e., Dokra Casting at Adilabad and Cotton Durries at Warangal are under process.
